My Dad died from a side effect of a drug used to treat A-fib called Amiodarone.
He was put on Amiodarone in Jan. 2018 and was treated in the hospital for pneumonia by September 2018
for two weeks, on two different antibiotics. When not responding to the antibiotics and requiring a very high dose of oxygen, they put him in ICU. It was not until then that finally, for the first time since being admitted, a pulmonary Dr. came in and asked how long he had been on Amiodarone. That is when they realized it was not pneumonia at all. He was diagnosed with “Amiodarone toxicity of the lungs” which is a side effect from the Amiodarone . Once the Doctors realized that, they put him on a steroid. By then it was too late. 😢His lungs were so filled with toxic fluid that he literally could not breath.
He took his last breath within 4 days in ICU😢 💔
I did a lot of research on the drug after that and it states that when a patient is put on that medicine they are supposed to be closely monitored for side effects.
My Dad felt very weak for months. He couldn’t even get himself dressed.
1 month before being admitted to the hospital he told his cardiologist that he felt like he was dying. They did not take him seriously nor never did any blood work or testing...
If they would have, they would have figured out that something serious was going on.
For Doctors to misdiagnose him and not look at all of his medications and study their side effects is beyond me.
I try to get the word out about it often and have even heard from countless others whom have lost a loved one the same way.
I pray for those who have suffered a loss from this toxic med.
I am praying so hard for anyone who has to take this toxic medication🙏🏼
Please take caution and report any possible side effects immediately.
